About our Athens masonry and concrete company

How I came back to brick
I learned brick and block work under an older mason, then spent years away from the trade. What brought me back was missing work you could stand back and look at, the kind that's still standing long after you've packed up and gone home. In 2023 I started Keystone Athens Concrete and Masonry as a masonry contractor here in Athens, GA, and you can see the work we do on our home page.
Athens has plenty of older brick, and a lot of our calls are about joints that are crumbling, a wall that's started to lean, or someone who wants something new built with care. I'd rather fix what's really wrong than just the part you can see, because brick and stone should outlast all of us. We're based in Athens and work across the cities around it, with Commerce, Jefferson, Monroe and Winder among them.
What it's like to work with us
You deal with me from the first visit
I come out to look at the job and write your estimate myself, and I work alongside our crew once the job is under way. No question is too small to ask before you decide anything, and I'm happy to answer the same one twice.
We find the cause before the fix
Mortar that's crumbling or a wall that's moved usually has a reason behind it, like water getting in or the ground shifting, so we look for that first. Otherwise the repair is just a patch over the same problem, and you'd be calling us back for it.
An estimate you can actually follow
Your estimate spells out what we'll do and why, in plain words you can follow without a trade background. It's free, written on site at your home and comes with no obligation, so get in touch and we'll reply within one business day.
Permits handled with your local office
When a job needs a permit, we take care of the application and the inspections with the city or county office for your address. In Athens that's the county's Building Permits and Inspections office, which wants a separate permit for each structure in a project, and we're fully licensed and insured.
How we handle the work on your wall
Open it up
We tell you up front what can't be known until the old mortar comes out, and we show you what we find once it does.
Match what's there
We pick mortar and brick to suit your wall's age and color, so a repair on older brick blends in and works with what's already there.
Protect your yard
We cover plants, walks and anything close to the wall before we cut or mix, so the mess stays where the work is.
Tool the joints
We finish each joint by hand to the shape the wall already has, because that's what you'll see every time you walk past it.
Walk it with you
We clean up, then look the work over with you and answer anything you want to ask, even if you've asked it before.
